Alvina Lai graduated from Parsons the New School for Design with a BFA in Photography and BA in Literary Studies. They grew up and currently live in NYC.
Alvina’s work explores two areas of concept.
1. Asian American identity. The Asian American experience is complex and paradoxical. Their work observes and reacts to the dynamics between Eastern and Western culture.
2. Psychology and the quotidian. Human nature has an understated relationship with the mundane. Their work observes and explores this experience.
They believe photography and writing can be used to document information and express ideas. For them, it is a way to understand themselves and the world.
